Fleur de Chine Sun Moon Lake is located in the idyllic peaceful landscape of picturesque Nantou County in Taiwan.
Popular attractions include the Wen Wu Temple and the Xuanzhuang Temple, a beautiful structure set in a tranquil spot and still inhabited by monks who are happy to show visitors around. The temple is home to the remains of Tritipaka (aka Xuan Zhuang) an early Chinese Buddhist.
The Sun Moon Lake Peacock Park features more than 30 peacocks and over 150 other rare and valuable birds including mountain chickens, the Formosan blue magpie and the golden pheasant.
The Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village provides the perfect day out for young and old. Visitors can watch traditional aboriginal dances with dancers wearing traditional colorful costumes and learn to weave, or try out a blowpipe. There’s also a theme park with rides good enough to impress teenagers, as well as cable car rides over the park’s 2000 cherry trees, for the less thrill-seeking.
The best place to shop is at Shueishe Wharf and Ita Thao Wharf which features a market where you can purchase delicious street foods, indigenous snacks and authentic crafts and wares.
The Sun Moon Lake Festival has been held every September since 2000, a tourist carnival of color and fireworks, where visitors can watch fiery trails of light cascade over the lake’s crystalline surface. An unforgettable event for anyone staying here during this time.
The Aboriginal Cherry Blossom Festival is an annual event that attracts tourists from all over Taiwan as well as poets, artists and dancers. Lamplights are placed on the trees creating a romantic and colorful spectacle.
Recreational facilities at Fleur de Chine are aimed at the whole family and guests can take advantage of the hotel’s “off the beaten track” location by taking part in an organized hiking tour, or try rock climbing at the hotel’s own climbing center. There’s also an outdoor amphitheater where a series of artistic performances are held in the evenings.
On-site there’s a water park with waterslides, while the nearby lake is perfect for some energetic rowing or for those who prefer more low key activities there’s the option to take a relaxing boat trip. Cycling is a popular activity in Taiwan and Sun Moon Lake is perfect for cycling around with a path that circles all 30 Km of its length.
